Asphalt Foreman

Reporting directly to the Superintendent, this critical role involves the effective management of milling and paving crews, subcontractors, equipment, and the logistics that underpin our operations. Your shift will generally be during the day, but you should be prepared for weekend and night shift work, when necessary, dependent on project schedules and weather conditions.

What you will do:

As the Asphalt Foreman, your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

Leadership and Management:

• Efficiently oversee the operations of milling and paving crews, subcontractors, and quality control support in a defined region.
• Skillfully coordinate equipment, manpower, and material requirements for your project.
• Strive for optimal utilization of equipment, material, and labor to enhance productivity and minimize costs.
• Prioritize safety, ensuring the well-being of crew members and the public interacting with our projects.
• Uphold and enforce company policies.

Project Management:

• Maintain meticulous project records and review/approve daily timecards.
• Effectively communicate and manage change orders, approve invoices, and actively participate in project meetings.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of project drawings, specifications, and any special or quality requirements.
• Foster positive communication with owners, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and all key stakeholders in the project.
• Provide daily project status updates, encompassing all aspects, both positive and negative.
• Proactively identify and address challenges or roadblocks, devising well-thought-out action plans.

What you will need:

• A minimum of six (6) years of asphalt paving experience, with a preference for additional experience.
• Proficiency in motivating and managing subordinates to create a safe and productive work environment.
• Physical ability to meet job expectations.
• Adeptness at working collaboratively in a team setting and cultivating positive peer relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional multitasking abilities, with a knack for meeting deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills to keep projects running smoothly.
• Professional and respectful engagement with employees, emphasizing a team-oriented approach.
• A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and the ability to meet the company's driver qualification standards.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screening is required for all applicants.
