Custodian Position

The United Methodist Inner City Mission seeks a dependable and self-motivated Custodian to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of its facilities. This role supports day-to-day operations for programs serving children, families, and seniors by ensuring a clean, welcoming, and hygienic environment. The Custodian plays an essential role in upholding the Missions commitment to community service and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen areas, and common spaces daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash throughout the facility.
• Restock paper towels, soap, and other restroom or cleaning supplies.
• Maintain and properly store cleaning equipment; promptly report any repair or maintenance needs.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for meetings, programs, and community events.
• Monitor and secure doors and gates during opening and closing shifts.
• Follow all safety procedures and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility upkeep and program operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and initiative.
• Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully in a mission-based environment.
• Must have reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
