Under general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor or Management level position within the warehouse, the Night Receiver and Forklift Operator is responsible for ensuring product is placed in the proper location and that coolers are properly rotated. Daily rotation of product is required. Maintain and organize product in coolers. The Day Receiving/Night Receiving and Forklift Operator follows company policies and procedures and safety and security standards and ensures compliance with operational standards. Maintain professional relations with Day Receiving Manager, Capitol City Produce staff, subordinates, peers and vendors.

Maintain professional relations with Day Receiving Manager, Capitol City Produce staff, subordinates, peers and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Move all produce from the dock to its designated cooler.
  • Communicate with the Outbound Lead and supervisors on truck move prioritization.
  • Document and perform truck moves in the Outbound operations.
  • Perform yard checks throughout the shift.
  • Ensure truck temperatures are within company guidelines.
  • Verify and/or report damages to equipment.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage the truck pool effectively in accordance with the dock schedule.
  • Be able to work longer shifts and/or occasional Saturday or Sunday when necessary.
  • Be willing to work outside in the elements (hot/cold/rain, etc.).
  • Document truck moves and outbound SQF documentation.
  • Utilize the ProducePro system and scan all pallets to complete forklift transactions.
  • May breakdown pallets and sort product by item.
  • Maintain, organize or rotate product in coolers daily, moving product to its proper location.
  • Verify that all incoming produce is properly tagged before releasing to inventory.
  • May be required to use pre-printed labels and affix coordinating labels to proper boxes.
  • Assess product for freshness and proper ripeness; remove and discard old produce as needed.
  • Sweep up spilled product and dispose of waste.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment to meet company safety policies.
  • Ensure all work activities meet high standards for food safety and provide feedback for continuous process improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous forklift operating experience is preferred.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Previous experience in receiving and warehouse operations preferred.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
  • Move objects up to and exceeding 200 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
  • Physically able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Have reliable transportation.

Lifting of objects up to 75 lbs may be necessary.

It requires walking and standing in a consistent temperature of 34 degrees.

This job requires the use of the following tools and equipment: sit-down forklift, manual pallet jack, clipboard, pens, paperwork, invoices, boxes, bags, broom, stand-up dust pan, four-wheeled cart and a 10-step ladder.

While performing the duties of this job, an associate regularly works with moving mechanical apparatus and is exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high-traffic areas, slippery floors, and working alongside single pallet jacks, electric walk-behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working is performed on concrete flooring. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and may occur in varying climates. Temperatures range from 0 degrees in coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors. The shift end-time fluctuates with the employers daily needs. The associate may occasionally work in high and precarious places.
